French clays have a long history of being used in facial masks to absorb dirt and excess oils. When used in soaps and other toiletries, clays act as absorbents leaving the skin feeling tight and smooth . French green clay is often called montmorillonite and is a grayish green color while the French white is an off white/ grayish color.
